To begin our week, we got walloped with at least a foot of snow today! 12+ inches fell beginning 3am Sunday, and it's still blowing and snowing out there as I write. Southern WI is pretty much at a stand-still until this thing blows over and the plows can get things cleared out. Frank was off work Friday and will be tomorrow also because of this storm. I just pray these storms will stop soon, and life can get back to normal again. Looking very forward to spring.
Monday I have some phone calls to make in regards to Devin's CoQ10. I had been trying to have this small pharmacy in southern Georgia compound his Carnitor and liquid CoQ10 and have our insurance pay for it. This pharmacist has had good luck helping families whose insurance won't pay for the Q10 alone, but he has been somehow able to convince them to cover it when it's compounded with a prescription medication. I was hoping he could help us, but we got a letter on Friday saying our insurance denied us. I am just a little disappointed, but we do have another option. Our Geneticist told me about this family that lives in Madison that is very rich that has a son with cyclic vomiting syndrome. They set up a fund for po' folks like us who can't afford the cost of the CoQ10 and he said that we should apply for it. Dr. Rice said that this family would be happy to know that they helped someone who is as severly affected as Devin is. So tomorrow I'll call and get that set up. Devin also started on another medication to hopefully help him stop vomiting, called Amitrypteline. He was on it a couple of years ago and it seemed to work well, but eventually it leveled off and didn't work anymore so we took a break from it. Now we're starting it again, with high hopes it will help him as well as before. The only drawback is that he has to have an EKG with it (not sure how often) because of the hole in his heart. I'm sure nothing will happen but it's just a precautionary measure. He'll have that done in a few weeks.
Monday night we're expecting a call from *someone special*. Not sure she wants to be named here, so I won't say her name for now. I can't wait to hear her voice for the first time. We've gotten very close through letters, and it will be exciting to talk to her finally.
Thursday the Make A Wish wish-granters will come to meet Devin and get his ideas for his wish. We have decided that in case of an episode, we should stay on land and not go on a Disney Cruise. Devin is ok with that, but he still really has Disney on his mind, so he wants to go to the parks, and stay at the Nickelodeon Hotel in Orlando. His second wish is to have a Toys R Us shopping spree, a Wii game system, games and a television to go with it. He has to have two wishes in case the first one falls through, or the doctor doesn't ok the first one. I know he'll be thrilled with whatever wish comes true *Ü*
Kate started to roll over this weekend. She can roll from her tummy to her back now. She'll get on her tummy and kick and kick her little legs like she wants to try and crawl, but she just can't. As determined as she is though, she'll figure it out pretty quick. She sits up on her own, and now says ma-ma to get my attention, and ba-ba when she sees her bottle. I really think I heard her actually calling for a bottle by saying ba-ba, but I'm not sure. She's growing so fast and is changing so much. She has her 6 month check up on the 25th.
