Ok, I'm not really sure what I'm trying to do with this old, stale blog anymore. I had a really cool muse recently, when I renamed it "Scraping off the Burned Parts", but now of course, I lost it. I don't even remember where I was trying to go with that. Well, I do remember just a little bit of it. Don't anyone think I'm crazy, ok?
I was thinking about my life, and how many things in it appear "burned" on the outside, tarnished, just not all the way right, but if I scrape off just enough of the surface, what I find underneath, is beautiful and wonderfully made! The more I thought about it, I realized that there are so many situations, and people in my life that this muse pertains to. It can be the same for every one of you, too. Just think about something in your life that, on the outside, maybe doesn't look so appealing, or seems just plain hideous, but really, when you take the time to look below the surface, you can see something so totally different!
For instance, maybe you drive the same route to work day in and day out. The same scenery passes before your eyes, but tomorrow, just for one day, look at it with fresh eyes. Here in WI, summer is so beautiful, and I know that in the busyness of my life, I forget to stop and look around at God's beautiful creation. He paints the most breathtaking scenes in the WI countryside that I've ever seen! Summer is too short, and sometimes I think I'd rather fuss about the long, cold winter than enjoy the short, sweet summer.
Enjoy the people and things that surround you. Pick something good out of each and every person, and think on that, instead of dwelling on the negative. Each person has something good in them. Sometimes you might have to scrape off more burned layers to find it, but do it! Find it, and embrace it! Are you feeling the love yet?
Life is too short. Live it so that you have no regrets!
Can I get an AMEN?!..............anyone? *Ü*

Tupperware Product Review
I have been test driving more Tupperware products lately from my bag of goodies, and I wanted to share with you something else I found that I really like.
Microfiber Dishcloths
Tupperware has made some pretty great little dishcloths! They're tough enough to scrub off stuck-on food, yet gentle enough for your more delicate dishwashing jobs. I was surprised to find out that they worked better than the sponges I used with the scrubber side. These are very hard workers! They are almost see-through, so they dry very quickly and don't get that gross moldy smell. I used mine for many, many days before it got even the slightest smell to it. Instead of running it through the wash, I squirted a little bit of Tide on it, rinsed it out under the hot water, and I was good to go again for another few days. I've used it to wash dishes, Kate's highchair, and washed spots off the floor.
Try one for yourself, or check out the line of Tupperliving products for dishtowels, a dusting mit, all-purpose microfiber cloths, etc.

Meet the Kathryn of Kathryn's Kitchen
Here's the star of Kathryn's Kitchen.....Kathryn!!!
19 months old...March 2009. And yes, we do have two other children, but the boys never let me take their pictures anymore! I'll have to sneak one or two when they're not expecting it.
It's almost the end of March! Can you believe it? I remember just as March was beginning how this is one of the months I dread because it seems soooo long and the weather is often unpredictable. I just never did like March. Now as I'm thinking back, I wonder where did the month go?! I can't believe it's almost done already. I think I didn't notice it because I was so busy caring for sick children three weeks out of four. Those were three long weeks that really tested my patience and fortitude. I did end up at the doctor's office, but only because I had had enough and I needed to reach out to someone who understood, or could at least give me some hope and a sense of direction. I'm sure that probably only makes sense to someone who loves and cares for a chronically ill child, but I was almost at the end of my rope and it was about to snap. I had to do something quick! Thankfully, everyone got better, and life resumed as "normal" again. Normal in our home is something completely different than everyone else, but at least I'm used to that!
Have a great week everyone! *Ü*

Here is our menu for the week. Nothing exciting, but as always, child friendly.
Sunday.....Cheeseburgers, french fries, corn
Monday....Deviled Chicken, tater tots, broccoli, apple slices
Tuesday....Cheese ravioli, garlic bread sticks, green beans, cantaloupe
Wednesday....Ring bologna, Ranch Cheesy Potatoes and Ham (without the ham), peas and applesauce

Friday....Chinese for hubby, McDonald's for the boys because they told me they are changing the toys that day to the Monsters Vs. Aliens movie toys, and Culver's for baby dear and me.
Saturday....Homemade pizza and salad, but if that doesn't work out, we'll just eat whatever we can dig out of the pantry and refrigerator.

Why I Love Tupperware {and why you will too!}
As you all know by now, I sell Tupperware. At first I didn't know much about it, other than it has been around for many, many years, everyone loves it, and people have pieces that are handed down from grandmother, to mother, to daughter. A lasting legacy of time spent in the kitchen, preparing nourishing meals for those we love.
I remember going to grandma's house when I was a child. The first place we went was into her kitchen to see what she was cooking. When I close my eyes and think back, I can see the salt and pepper shakers sitting on her kitchen table, waiting to be used by her hungry family. I remember walking over to stand next to her to peek over her shoulder to see what smelled so good. She was mixing up a pie crust to be made into apple pie in a huge Tupperware bowl. After it was baked, it would be stored in her round Tupperware container. It was all we could do to keep out grubby mits out of it! If we weren't there for a meal, grandma would mix up a pitcher of lemonade, and a snack of cookies, or other homemade treats out of what were her favorite "everything" bowls. Do you have fond memories of your grandmother or mother baking or cooking, and can remember her using Tupperware products?
Well, now it's my turn to begin making memories with my own daughter in the kitchen. I want to have Tupperware that we used together to pass down to her when she gets older and moves out on her own. I'm beginning now to build my collection.
When I signed up with Tupperware, I bought a 'starter kit' so that I could begin to familiarize myself with what they had to offer. Things certainly have changed since grandma's baking days! They have really come out with some amazing pieces! I looked at everything, studied it, and learned about it. I did some parties with it, but as I was talking about it, I realized that I really didn't have enough experience with it to tell people how great it was, or how it worked for me in my own kitchen. I relied on what others told me about how it worked for them. Sure, their testimonies were glowing, but I wanted to know first-hand how great these pieces are, and how they help you save time and money. I decided to dig into my kit and help myself! I want to tell everyone about my favorite pieces so far, how I used them, and how you can get them for yourself!
My favorites by far! The Heat 'N Serve Oval and the Saucy Silicone Spatula go great together! Below, I showed how I used it to reheat my favorite Paula Deen Macaroni and Cheese recipe (I added the ham cubes on my own. Yum! Frozen peas would be good too if that suits your taste). I baked the macaroni and cheese in my oven using my glass casserole dish. I knew I would need that dish again the next day, so I put the leftover macaroni and cheese in the Heat 'N Serve Oval, and put it in the refrigerator. The next day at lunch I took it out, popped it into the microwave and reheated it for about two minutes. The reheating time is much less than in a different kind of dish because it uses steam, and it heats your food evenly and quickly. No burned spots are left behind on your food. I am totally sold on this piece. I have used it time and time again for many, many different kinds of meals, and each time the food comes out heated perfectly!
Oh, and a word about that spatula...it's the thickest, most hard working spatula I've ever had in my hands! It has a very thick handle, and the stirring part is made of silicone, and can handle temperatures of up to 400 degrees! I can tell it's going to last for many, many years!
My next favorite set are the FridgeSmarts. I have labeled each one so that you can see what they are. Those white ovals you see on each one are vents to let the air pass through the food inside if it needs it. They click open or closed, depending on the food that is stored inside. Each piece (except the small size; that comes with paper instructions inside) has a chart that is lasered in between two layers of the plastic so that it will never come off, that tells you if you need to open one vent or two, or keep both vents closed, depending on what food you have stored inside. The first one I used was the small one on top for strawberries. I wish I had kept track of how long they lasted, but it was much, much longer than keeping them in the container they came in from the store. Next I tried baby carrots in it. You know how carrots either get dried and cracked, or mushy after a while? Well, I kept waiting and waiting for something to happen, but they stayed just the same as the day I put them in there! They stayed crispy and crunchy until they were all gone. I'm the only one who eats them, so they lasted quite a while. I was impressed, but I had to put it to the toughest test I could think of, and that's lettuce! Iceberg lettuce, that after a week (if you're lucky to have it stay fresh even that long) goes limp and brown and mushy in the bottom drawer of your refrigerator. Below is the head of lettuce I bought and stored in the FridgeSmart Large Round. I put a sticky note on the top with the date that I put it in there, so that I would know for sure how long it would last. As you can see from the photo below, it's been 17 days and counting! Yes, 17 days for a head of iceberg lettuce! Wow!!! Now I'm impressed! The lettuce is still crisp and I only saw one or two small brown spots on it. That's it! I can't believe it. I took the wrapper off the lettuce (everything goes into the FridgeSmart containers naked), read the label to see what vents I had to open or close (lettuce needs one vent open, and one closed) and put it in the refrigerator. It's that easy, and more than two weeks later I still have crispy, fresh lettuce for an impromtu salad at dinner! Amazing! (Note: it has taken me a couple of days to get this post edited, and I just checked on the lettuce and 21 days later it's still good! For goodness sakes! What will it take to get this lettuce to go bad?! I'm going to have a salad with it tonight with our ravioli and bread sticks for supper).
Another one of my favorites thus far is my Access Mates Container. These are mostly used to store potatoes and onions, but can be used for many other things. Pet food with a scoop inside would be good in here, or whatever else you can think of. The panel on the front is called a Veg-Out panel, which you'd use for things that need circulation like your potatoes and onions (but not in the same container together. You'll need one for each), and another lid that is solid and closes the same way, for things that don't need air circulation, like the pet food for instance. I am finding it incredibly convenient to have somewhere easy to keep my potatoes where I can simply open the lid and reach in, grab what I need, then close it again until next time. I really appreciate having this storage option in my kitchen pantry. Not only is it convenient, but it looks nice too. It comes with a blue lid, or passion red. Whatever you choose.

Random Happenings
Hello friends! It's been a while since I've posted anything here. It's been so crazy with Devin having been sick for three long weeks, then Antonio getting sick, then Kate had it for a weekend. I was so happy to have it over with, only to have Antonio coming home from school yesterday looking as white as a sheet, complaining that his throat hurts, then throwing up right at bedtime.....here we go again.
Devin got up the courage to get on the bus and go to school all by himself this morning, the first time without Antonio. Of course I had to give him a huge dose of Ondansetron so he wouldn't get so nervous and throw up, but hey, you have to do what you have to do! I told him during the times that he's well, he has to go for the gusto! He asked what gusto is, and after giving it some thought, I didn't have a good answer for him. I told him that he needed to really go for what he wants in life, and do it big! I told him like when Uncle Todd jumped out of an airplane, he went for the gusto! Then he understood what it was. I saw him kind of thinking about that one for a minute, wondering if I'm going to try to make him jump out of an airplane. I should have said everyone has a different way of going for the gusto. Oh well.
This cute little bench is one that I had when we lived in FL. When we moved back to WI, I left it behind, knowing that one day I'd be back for it, and some other things we left there. Well, two weekends ago, Frank and my brother Josh did a marathon drive to FL. 2,800 miles in 50 hours! Wow! They went to bring our things back. I had forgotten about my bench, and was happy to see it, but oh what a mess it was! The seat was white and was stained with every color of the rainbow! Ack! So my dear husband sprayed it with a mix of Tide and water and scrubbed it, let it dry, then took this blue fabric that I had and covered it, and made me a new bench! Isn't it cute? I love it. I am using it at my desk upstairs, where I used to use one of the kitchen table chairs.
With Devin at school now, Kate really misses him. In his IEP it is written that he has every Wednesday off to rest, and that is Kate's favorite day! She loves to just be with him and I caught them in the chair together and she was "talking" to him and telling him stories and he was talking back to her in coversation. It was really sweet.
Tuesday the 17th was our 19th anniversary. We don't usually do anything on our special day, so it was just another day, until I woke up and went out to the kitchen and found this message on the white board. My dear husband wrote it on his way out the door to work. I may be the only one to understand it, but that's ok. *Ü*
This is just a picture of the way Devin spent his past three weeks. Hooked up to IV fluids, lying on the couch in front of the tv. He was so bored. I read to him, he colored a little bit, we played games and he played the Wii for a little bit. We were both so happy to see him getting better and better each day. He lost a few pounds, but hopefully we'll battle back to his fighting weight of 63 pounds. A couple of years ago when we were living in FL he was up to 77lbs, but I just can't see him getting up that far on the scale again unless a miracle happens! He mostly hovers between 59lbs and 63lbs now. His doctors are concerned about his weight, but there isn't anything we can do until he stops getting sick all the time. We'll see what the next year holds for him. Hopefully not more of the same.
Blessings to you all!

Valentie's Day
Valentine's Day was great for the boys at school today! This is what they came home with, and Devin already warned me not to get into his Valentine's box! He's afraid I'll eat all his candy. When have I ever done that?! I don't even like chocolate! YEA RIGHT!! With any luck I'll be buried in a chocolate casket when I die, and the mansions in heaven will be made of Hershey's chocolate bars! Ha!
